Introduction to FAWDE

FAW Jiefang's Powertrain Division is a key business unit within China FAW Group's commercial vehicle division. It serves as the R&D, production, and sales hub for Jiefang's heavy-, medium-, and light-duty engines, transmissions, and axles. In November 2022, in accordance with Jiefang's plan, the former Engine Division and Transmission Division were integrated to form the FAW Jiefang Powertrain Division. Following the restructuring, the Powertrain Division is now located in Wuxi, Changchun, Dalian, and Foshan, with its headquarters in Wuxi, covering a total area of over 1.31 million square meters. The division comprises 12 functional departments, three directly affiliated factories, and two joint ventures (Changchun WABCO and Diyi Elements are managed by the division under the FAW Jiefang contract). It employs over 7,000 people. Its primary products include engines, transmissions, and axles, as well as fuel cells and brakes. Among them, the engines include three brands: Aowei, Bowei and Jinwei, with displacement covering 2-16 liters and power covering 25-770 horsepower; the gearbox and axle products cover three series: light, medium and heavy, with gearbox gears covering 5-12 gears and torque covering 280-3500N·m; the front axle and middle and rear axles have 5 and 14 platforms respectively, with load capacities covering 2.3-9 tons and 3-16 tons respectively, and torque covering 7000-60000N·m.
